Here are four films of post-war Britain by master documentary film maker John Krish, who repeatedly turned routine sounding films into something special. The films are The Elephant Will Never Forget from 1953, the classic film about the last week of London’s trams, They Took Us to the Sea (1961) about a school trip from Birmingham to Weston-super-Mare behind steam haulage, Our School (1962) charting the aspirations of the decade’s school-leavers, and the deeply moving I Think They Call Him John of 1964, the account of the life of an elderly widower. Great viewing!
