Balade pour un Chemin de Fer • DVD • £25.15 This is Jacques Chaussard’s prize-winning film, now available on DVD, and actually shot between 1969 and 1973, starring the Renault ABH autorails on a journey up the valleys from Nice Gare du Sud, to Digne on the Chemins de fer du Provence, France's last great commercial metre gauge railway. On the highly scenic journey you divert to see various aspects of life along the line which, as it turned out, were going to change very rapidly. I had forgotten just how lovely a film it is, and the wife liked it - the ultimate accolade, even if the commentary, spoken by the autorail, is in a pretty strong Provençal accent. Good modelling details, but this is really a film to just sit back and enjoy on a regular basis; 42 minutes of delight! Click to enlarge Current ReviewsWrite your own review here
