Keith Chester’s history of the ex-Yugoslav 760mm gauge system above, has been a best-seller, deservedly so, as it was a fascinating network of railways. Keith’s new book is mainly pictorial, but he takes the opportunity to update the earlier book in the light of new information, and cover the regions forestry and mining industries and their railways. However it is the photographs, of which there must be around 600, mostly reproduced two to an A4 page, which are what makes this a very special book. They draw on a wide range of sources, both local and from enthusiasts who visited the lines during the 1950s and 60s, and also include much archive material. Around 30% are in colour. This book stands on its own, but if you have the original volume, it will be a definite ‘must-have’! 320 superbly produced pages. Hardbound. Stenvalls
