There can be few (if any) Chartered Surveyors who decide to enter railway engineering, and end up with a business that can sell locomotives for the construction of the Channel Tunnel, and build fully working replicas of engines from the dawn of the railway era, not to mention modern steam locomotives, be they miniature or narrow gauges. Such a man is Alan Keef, and this excellent autobiography tells just how he made this interesting transition, and the locomotives and other items he has made, with the help of his children Patrick and Alice who continue the business at full tilt, now that the author has (largely) retired. 192 well produced pages, full of photographs, the majority in colour, and some drawings.
