Excellent value book recounting the history of Brooklands, the iconic, purpose built, car racing track near Weybridge in Surrey, from its opening in 1907 up to the present day. As was intended, Brooklands became the cradle of British motor racing on both four and two wheels, as its banking allowed much higher speeds than elsewhere. Rather more by accident, Brooklands also became a cradle of British aviation, which eventually led to its end as a racing track in 1939 when it was occupied by Vickers. 64 pages, well illustrated with both B&W and colour photographs. Paperback. Shire Publications
