This comes from Peter Jones, author ofthe best-selling Practical Garden Railways and, even if I don’tlike the layout, is very good, especially on the general technicalitiesof building engines, as well as how they work. It doesn’t tell you howto build a specific model - you need Steam Trains in Your Garden for that, and A Passion for Steamis probably better on the ‘how does it work’ details as well ashistory, but on building techniques this is top-notch. 223 pages,heavily illustrated with colour photographs and drawings.
