I rather think more books have been devoted to O.V.S. Bulleid, and his designs than any other locomotive designer, of any nationality. This latest book on the man comes from the pen of Keith Robertson, author of 'The Leader Project', and is an overview of Bulleid's career, his designs and accomplishments. We tend to think of Bulleid in terms of his Pacifics, the Q1 class 0-6-0s, and the Leader fiasco, but he also was responsible for electric and diesel locomotives, and coaches, both main line, and double-decked suburban. All of these are looked at in some detail, as are the final twists to Bulleid's career in Ireland. It is an interesting story, and well worth this new telling, from which some interesting conclusiuons are drawn. 160 pages with around 200 B&W illustrations. Hardbound. Ian Allan.
