Illustrated in this beautiful book are no fewer than ninety seven bicycles, all having specific design features so they could be used in specific ways. More than a few are 'racing' bikes, as this is where the design and technology has developed fastest - the nearest thing to an absolutely conventional bike here is an Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra which, in 1990, was the creme de la creme of racing machines. Also to be found here are town bikes, touring bikes, tricycles, folding bikes, mountain bikes and other delights, dating from 1925 onwards. Each model has a side photograph and then at least one page of detail photographs, sometimes two, plus a description and basic data. If you are a cyclist, like bikes, or are interested in the design and form of machines, then this is a wonderful book, and exceptionally good value. 224 pages, with around 400 exceptional photographs in colour.
