The Britannia was the first aircraft to carry 100 passengers non-stop across the Atlantic, and was widely admired during a long period in service. But its development, in parallel with the Brabazon, was fraught with problems, especially with the Proteus engines, and two aircraft were lost in test flights. Originally released as a video in 2000, this DVD tells the story of this iconic aircraft, using archive film, stunning photographs, and reminiscences of people involved with the Britannia’s development.
