There are enough books and DVDs on the S&D already but, as far as I am aware, this is the first film that seeks to tell the railway’s history in some detail. This it does well, using maps, photos and rare archive film, much of which has never been released before. It also talks to people who worked on the line, and visits the three preservation sites linked to the S&D’s memory, at Washford, Midsomer Norton and Shillingstone
