It is a while since we have had a modern American steam film in the list, but here is UP’s magnificent 4-8-4 No. 844, the oldest American steam locomotive in continual service, seen during a 32 day excursion around Western states in April 2009. And magnificent she really is, in both in sound and spectacle, although the latter is frequently slightly reduced by the one or two diesels behind, presumably for security, but actually being towed.
