This new book is a greatly enlarged edition of the author’s The Railways and Tramways of Majorca, but it also records the extraordinary renaissance of Majorca’s main system which has not only been regauged from 3 foot to metre gauge, but is being extended in all directions, starting with the reopening of some closed lines. The bulk of this book records the full history of the FC de Mallorca and its equipment, from the 1870s through to the present day. Also covered are the electric FC de Soller and the linked Soller Tramway (as featured in our video Atencion al Tren), the various Palma tramways, and assorted industrial lines. This is a nice book although, and I never thought I would say this of a Plateway Press book, a number of the photographs are rather dubious in quality. However the vast majority of the considerable number are fine and there are good drawings, maps etc. 248 hardbound pages in all.
