During the mid 1990s we were able to offer a lovely 30 minute video called “In Search of Steam - Paraguay”, which was a broadcast documentary showing the late Robert Adley MP and his wife exploring the railways of Paraguay. Adley was, of course a railway enthusiast and the Paraguay Railway was not just 100% steam operated, but the locomotives were 100% wood fired, making the system unique. The original 30 minute film has now been released on DVD, and contains another 60 minutes of material, which includes extra on Sapucay works, the logging line at Puerto Casado and Asuncion’s trams, as well as the gloriously decrepit mainline system which has, I believe, now shut completely. A wonderful film!
