Lovely film about the 10.5” gauge railway at Stapleford Park, tracing the railway’s story from the opening of the first section in 1958, up to the present day when, after a 10 year period dormant during the late 1980 and early 90s, it is now fully restored, mainly thanks to “The Friends of the SMR”. As well as film taken throughout the line’s life, including the famous time it appeared in “The Avengers”, you also see most of the locomotives which have run on the line, including a GWR ‘Saint’, and LMS ‘Jubilee’ 4-6-0s, up to the huge New York Central Niagara Class 4-8-4, and Erie ‘Berkshire’, plus the new East African Railways 2-8-4, first steamed in 2008. Made by Nick Dodson of Railfilms, this is a highly recommended film, sales of which support the same charity as the line’s Open Days.
