Looks at 100 of the world’s tallest buildings, arranged chronologically from the Eiffel Tower and Ulm Cathedral onwards to the Tour de Verre in New York, due to be completed in 2012. Each is illustrated with a large B&W photograph, plus drawings and sketch, and there is also a commentary. Also has some general history and thoughts for the future. Fascinating, especially the way in which the skyscraper has moved from its traditional homes of New York and Chicago to the Middle and Far East in particular, although European examples are covered. 141 pages, 46 cms tall! Hardbound. Black Dog & Leventhal.
