Monorails of the World
£25.00

As far as I know this is the first history of passenger monorails to be published. It is comprehensive, but does rather make the point that, despite its promise, the monorail in any form (and there are plenty) has yet to find it place as a mode of transportation. The only successful long-term urban line is the Schwebebahn in Wuppertal; other urban lines have tended to be short lived other than Seattle, and some in Japan. All the others are ‘novelty’ lines. Interesting and well produced look down something of a ‘branch-line’ in railed transport. 96 A4 format pages full of illustrations, the bulk in colour. Paperback. Adam Gordon
