More Up Clear Creek on the Narrow Gauge
£52.50

Harry W. Brunk’s series ‘Up Clear Creek on the Narrow Gauge’ in Narrow Gauge & Shortline Gazette is legendary, and has now been running for over 30 years. Ostensibly it is about building an HOn3 model of the Colorado & Southern’s 3 foot gauge line up Clear Creek, northwest of Denver, but it is not a how-to-do-it series. Rather it is a series of inspiration and motivation – the author has an infectious enthusiasm for his modelling and his subject. Thus it is also a history book – modelling the C&S as it was in the late 1920s and early 1930s required a great deal of research. The history of the area is discussed and reflected in the accurate modeling not only of the railroad and its equipment, but also of the houses, churches, mines, and businesses along the line. Although it helps, you don’t have to have any interest in American narrow gauge to like the series, as you will find inspiration and techniques that are applicable to whatever you model. This book, effectively Vol.2 contains 88 articles, taking the story up to January 1910 and contains Harry’s articles covering two of the three moves the layout has had to make, and perhaps branches out in more directions. Crammed with photographs, B&W and colour, and the author’s delightful drawings, sketches and maps.302 pages. Hardbound. Benchmark Publications
