Until RAF Lyneham closed in 2010, ‘Herks’ were friends of Camden, often very close ones, as they did training flights on which Rode was clearly a low turning point - on occasion there would be four or more in view. And a ‘Herk’ is a real, and quite extraordinarily versatile not to say durable, aircraft, being produced in successive versions over forty-one years, with many still flying today. This weighty tome records their history, development and service all over the world. There is a lot of basic technical information, no drawings, but vast numbers of B&W photos, plus 8 colour pages showing 16 liveries of various operators. And there is the full service record with a whole host of the world's Air Forces, as well as civilian operators. 414 hardbound pages
