This was Jacques Tati’s final film. Set inside a circus, and on the surface just about one performance, it features Tati doing acts from his own musical days in the 1930s, and a whole series of turns by clown/acrobats, a pop group, the audience and others. Whilst the performance is the story, the film shows the interaction between the audience and the performers, usually with considerable quirky humour; very difficult to describe, but full of wonderfully obvious gags in the acts, as well as often subtle sight gags.
