The Golden Years of Tin Toy Trains 1850 - 1909
£43.50

We have just FIVE Brand New copies of this beautiful book - sumptuous book is perhaps a better description, published by New Cavendish back in 2002, now Out of Print and fetching huge prices second-hand. Quite how we missed it fisrt time round I know not.

The subject is implicit in the title, but what is really good about the contents is that, whilst the locomotives and trains are far from ignored, the book concentrates on the extraordinary ranges of accessories which were available for the the sets. In many ways they were actually more sophisticated than the trains themselves. These include steam-driven transfer tables, bridges, a huge mountain cable railway, gantry cranes, refreshment trolieys (beautiful!), suspended and elevated railways, level crossings, stations and much, much more, all with huge play value. Also covered are a bewildering variety of 'toy' gauges, up to 5 inch gauge (honest)! All illustrated in glorious colour - over 900 pictures in 358 pages. Hardbound in slip case.

If the computer won't let you order this book, you have missed out - sorry.
