The Railways of Jamaica
£25.00

Just as Jamaica is the second largest of the Caribbean islands after Cuba, so its railway system was the second largest - after Cuba’s. In fact, at around 200 miles, the Jamaica Government Railway was much shorter, but it was still a fascinating system, through difficult country. Its motive power, and rolling stock, started out as very British, but the later steam locomotives especially were North American, as was passenger rolling stock - some ex LMS corridor coaches excepted. Services were suspended in 1992, although much of the infrastructure remains in place - under extensive vegetation. 168 pages. Large numbers of B&W and colour illustrations. Numerous maps. Hardbound. Locomotives International
