Olympus The Inside Story

£12.00

The Olympus was Bristol Aeroplane Co's first jet engine, being intended to power bombers capable of achieving 500 mph, reaching 40,000 feet and developing 9140 lbs of thrust. As such it powered the Avro Vulcan bomber.

A susequent development powered the ill-fated TSR of 1964, and the final development powered powered Concorde which achieved a altitude of 68,000 feet, a speed of Mach 2.23 and a thrust of 38,000 lbs of thrust.

Some development! And some engine as it was in service for 40 year and adapted for both marine use and industrial use.

184 smaller format pages, with many B&W photographs, drawings, diagrams and flow charts. Paperback, and a very good read.
