Following the success of Ploughing Engines at Work, Barry Finch has delved into his photo albums and selected 92 B&W photos he took of road steam, mainly from the 1950s to the 1970s, showing road steam of all types and makes

The photographs themselves are superb and being reproduced one to a page in an A4 landscape format book, the detail may be appreciated. Some show engines still at work, with the rest showing engines in preservation, or awaiting it, at a time when many were owned or driven by men who had worked on them as a living, and when overbearing health and safety was unheard of.

A wonderful, highly nostalgic and beautifully printed book on the era described in words by Jack Hampshire in Memories of Steam Rallying.
