4-8-0 Tender Locomotives
David & Charles 1971 - First Edition.
4-8-0 tender locomotives were built in considerable number by British manufacturers although only two of this type ran in the UK, and those on the Irish 3' gauge.
The type originated in the U.S.A., and was common in Spain, South Africa, Queensland, Norway, South America, Africa and India. And what was the world's greatest locomotive class, by power to weight and economy, Chapelon's 240P was, of course of this wheel arrangement.
