Locomotives Quarterly - Fall 1977 issue

We offered this unique American magazine for some years in the 1990s, but it went out of business in 2006.

This was a pity as it really was regretable - for a start the format was landscape, secondly it concentrated on b&w photographs of American steam, either archive, or by the top photographers, including Harold K. Vollrath & Richard Kindig, whose work features in this issue, plus it has 4 colour plates, either painting or photograph. The format means that photographs are reproduced largely full page.

The subject matter is eclectic - here are sections on:

Susquehanna Power - Two Eras of Identity

Stroudsburg Turn (Erie)

A Special Case - The Rio Grande/Western Pacific Ten-wheelers

Birmingham - Deep South Hub

A Harold K. Vollrath Photo Sampler

Colour Plates are:

Scenic Limited's Power (Western Pacific) on the cover

Rainy Day at Durand (Grand Trunk Western)

Coal Through Blue Ridge  (Norfolk & Western)

Mexicano Fairlie (Mexican Railway) 0-6-6-0 standard gauge Fairlies used on an exceedingly steep 66 mile section of the line from Vera Cruz to Mexico City for over fifty years.

80 pages. Paperback.
