Nicholas Morant's Canadian Pacific
Footprint Publishing 1992
A strikingly beautiful book which makes description a challenge. Briefly:" Here then is a book of photographs of the Canadian Pacific Railway, over the years from 1929 to 1981, the span of Morant's career as a photographer." All the photographs were taken by Morant for the Canadian Pacific, a position which gave him the ability to stop trains if required, gain special vantage points and so on.
Morant's work covers the Depression years, World War 11, the coming of the diesel and the end of steam, and he looks at all facets of CP's operations and, often, its people. This is, truly, a magnificent book.
