Scythemill App. 15 mins. • B&W • DVD (LAST COPIES)
Absolutely fascinating film showing the manufacture of crown scythes by hand at Issac Nash’s Belbroughton works near Kidderminster and including the working of their last water-powered tilt hammer.
The major part of the film was shot in 1955, and the works closed in 1968, so this really does show how an old fashioned craft was followed in the days before mechanisation.
The film is pretty short, but pulls you in to the extent that it seems much longer! (Limited Supplies!)
