The Gilpin Railroad Era
A4 Hard Back Pub by Sundance
First edition, like new. Edition no 1253
Signed by authors. Dan Abbott & Dell A McCoy. The story of the 2 foot gauge Gilpin Railroad, or tram, built in Gilpin County, Colorado to bring gold ore down to the processing plant built on Clear Creek below. The line only used Shays and even so, used numerous switch backs to gain height. Whilst its purpose was moving ore, the line also operated tourist passenger trains during the summer months.
The line closed in 1917 after a life of barely 20 years. A fabulous book to Sundance's usua; high quality.
