RAILWAYS a history in drawings

£50.00

A beautiful book in every way, written by an employee of the National Railway Museum in York who has selected 108 original technical drawings from its archives, plus 192 other illustrations.

The first drawing is of a Horse Dandy Cart, the last is a proposal for Manchester Piccadilly station. In between are locomotives, carriages, wagons and stations from all eras, and steam, electric and diesel propulsion for the motive power. Each drawings, or set of drawings, is accompanied by a good commentary on the subject.

The scanning of frequently very old documents is exemplary, as is the quality of the printing and the book in general. 306 larger format landscape pages with both B&W and colour illustrations.

Not cheap, but highly recommended and worth every penny.
