Narrow Gauge Album 1950-1965 in Colour

£25.00

Back in 1957 Ian Allan published ‘Narrow Gauge Album’ by the late Pat Whitehouse, the first major book to cover the narrow gauge railways of Great Britain and Ireland, illustrated by archive photographs, and many then contemporary ones, taken by the author and friends.

This new book, of colour archive photographs, is written by Pat’s son, Michael Whitehouse and contains colour photographs, largely taken by his father, plus his many friends. This book doesn’t cover all the lines the earlier one did, but does include much more industrial narrow gauge steam, in the quarries of both the Midlands and North Wales.

Given their age, the colour of the photographs has been well restored and the reproduction is generally very good, plus Michael’s text and captions are never less than interesting. 208 pages. Around 230 all colour photographs, a good few full page. Hardbound.
